What is Baking?
Baking is the technique of prolonged cooking of food by dry heat acting by convention, and not by radiation, normally in an oven, but also in hot stoned ashes, or on hot stones. Bread, cakes, pastries & pies, tarts, quiches, cookies and crackers are prepared through this method.
Did you know that the first evidence of baking was when the ancient people took wild grass grains, soaked it with water, and mixes everything together; they were mashing it into a kind of broth-like paste. The paste was then cooked by pouring it onto a flat, hot rock resulting to a bread-like substance. As time passes by, developments have been made that bread-making becomes a lot easier to do. Other deliciously tasting baked products that satisfies the consumers need were invented too, like cookies, pizzas, cup cakes etc.
One common and very delicious--if it's well made, product of baking is a "cake". Cake is a form of food, typically a sweet, baked dessert. Cakes normally contain a combination of flour, sugar, eggs and butter or oil with some varieties also requiring liquid (typically milk or water) and leavening agents (such as yeast or baking powder). Here is the basic procedure in cake making.

Procedure:
Step 1. Prepare the ingredients.
Begin by gathering and measuring all the ingredients. Prepare the cake pans, grease and flour them. And preheat oven at the right temperature, it'll took about 10-15 min.
Step 2. Mix all dry ingredients such as flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, sugar. And add vanilla essence in a bowl. You can use a wire whisk to combine the flour with the leavening agents.
Step 3. Add milk/water, vegetable oil and eggs.
Step 4. Mix everything together until smooth, either by wire whisk or by using an electric mixer at slow speed. If the batter is too runny you may add slightly more flour.
Step 5. Transfer to baking pans and bake at 350 degrees until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, approximately 35 to 45 minutes.
Step 6. After the cake has cooled, slice the cake through the middle to make two layers (easier if the cake has been in the fridge).

- Cream the softened butter with powdered sugar in a bowl. Add cocoa, vanilla and 4 tablespoons lukewarm milk, and mix until smooth. Do not over-mix. If necessary, add some more milk.
- Use one 1/3 of the frosting between the two layers, 1/3 on top, and the rest around the cake.
- This cake should have room temperature when served.
You can also add some toppings in your cake to look like this.
